Pane e partigiani
by Marino Marini, Italy, 2016, 81’
The documentary, which begins with the testimonies of the local partisans of Umbria, describes the importance of the food and the solidarity provided by the contadini (farmers) in support of the Resistance struggle in Umbria and Italy. From this perspective of food and sharing, the documentary strives to highlight the values that inspired young people to fight for freedom, most importantly the value of solidarity as an element of collective deliverance. The documentary highlights the role of the unarmed Resistance, particularly by the many women and farmwomen who supported and contributed to the struggle for freedom. Through their experience the foundations were laid for the continuing social struggles for human rights and gender equality.
