For the first time, the author Francesca Melandri deals with the legacy of her father, a convinced Fascist during the Mussolini period. For a long time, his past was censored from his family’s memory but, through research in Italy and Ethiopia, his daughter investigates and re-elaborates it for her new novel, as she also studies Italy’s repression of its violent colonial past.

Direttore della fotografia e regista. Dal 1986 lavora nel cinema come assistente operatore in Italia e realizza due documentari autoprodotti: “Toubab” e “Dannati ad metalla”. Nel 1993 si trasferisce a Parigi dove lavora come direttrice della fotografia in diversi lungometraggi e documentari, con molte collaborazioni in Africa. Nel 1998 si ristabilisce a Roma alternando il lavoro della fotografia con autori e documentaristi a quello di filmaker. Nel 2002 realizza “Negri de Roma”, terzo documentario come autrice.
