Caterina guarda Caterina

Story of a beauty concealed in the gnarled hands, the painful joints, and the wrinkled skin of my grandmother. This work is intended to document female beauty in its faded stage and the daily routine of the elderly that contrasts apparent boredom and the fear it can instill. Caterina is 93 years old and lives in a small Italian village in Liguria. Her undeniable beauty is enjoyed through eyes that are ‘sixty years less ‘ and felt in the vitality of an old woman whose exuberance animates this small community. There is the beauty of Caterina and the beauty in old age, how to live it in relationships, in silences, while working in her vegetable garden or at home: Caterina is happy not because she tries to be what she no longer is, but because she lives her age fully.
Because beauty is the reflective splendor of truth which is not only a personal conviction but a universal benefit for everyone.
